Kickboxing program. Muay Thai / Kickboxing is regarded as the prestigious national sport of Thailand. Due
to the popularity of our Muay Thai / Kick- boxing classes, we offer large variety of classes to
accommodate you individual needs and interests. These group
classes include: beginner, intermediate, advanced, competitive
and mixed level classes in the evening and daytime. For those who prefer to learn
individually or in small groups we offer private lessons in Muay Thai / Kickboxing.
Whether you're planning on getting into the best shape of
your life, want a non-traditional workout, or are interested in competing in Muay Thai and Kickboxing the
training you will receive at PFA will give you the best workout available. Our workouts offer everything from
serious muscle toning, increased endurance, increased power and strength. Mauy Thai / Kickboxing will get
you where you want to be, both physically and mentally. In addition to the intense, full-body workout,
you will also increase your speed and co- ordination while learning a valuable skill that can be
applied to real life situations.
The exercises and activities of the classes include:
Cardiovascular Workout: Muay Thai / kickboxing focuses
heavily on good cardio workouts, which includes both aerobic and anaerobic activities. Jogging is a mainstay
of our warm up, but you will also find we incorporate a variety of exercises into the workout as well.
Shadowboxing: Shaowdowboxing is excellent for balance,
cardiovascular conditioning, and fine-tuning techniques. The moves used in shadowboxing are the same moves
used in bag work, pad work, and in the ring. Being able to practice these moves against
imaginary opponents or in the mirror is crucial to developing skills and technique. You have the opportunity to
set up defensive and offensive techniques while "examining" your own strengths and weaknesses.
Bag Work: There is nothing like a good heavy bag workout
to build and tone muscles, increase endurance, and relieve stress. Working against a heavy bag give
resistance to your contact, making your body stronger. When you unload on the heavy bags, the harder you push
yourself the better the workout you will have.
Muay Thai / Kickboxing involves the full use of the body; bag
work includes techniques such as punches, elbows, knees, and kicks. Different combinations of these
basic moves makes the classes challenging and fun.
Pad Work: Doing Thai pad work is the closest you can come
to simulating fighting without actually having to get in there and worry about competing. Pad holders use focus
mitts, thai pads and leg kick pads to simulate both defensive and offensive techniques used with an
opponent. you learn how to engage in full contact without the
stress of injury and competing. You learn how to correctly use
offensive techniques, defensive maneuvers, and counters in a fast full contact manner on an
opponent. Pad work also teaches timing, distancing, weight transference, balance, and mental
toughness under simulated combative situations. Ab/Trunk/Back Workout: Tight abdominal muscles are a natural
result of Muay Thai / Kickboxing workouts, as are a strong back and over all strengthening of the trunk.
Bag work and pad work also contribute to a strong core. During every scheduled class, you will find
extensive core exercises from standard crunches to medicine ball workouts. the emphasis on a strong core will
result in a stronger overall body.
Sparring: Sparring is a great workout, but it is not for
everyone. Although it is not a required part of all of our Muay Thai / kickboxing classes, we do provide sparring
classes once a week besides the sparring that takes place in our competitive and advanced classes. Protective
gear is required and students can choose "light contact" to harder contact for fighters. Sparring allows you
to fully use all the skills being developed through shadowboxing, bag work, and pad work. the mental aspect of
getting hit and hitting back is crucial to understanding the heart of Muay Thai / Kickboxing.
Mixed Martial Arts
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), is also referred to as "No Holds
Barred", has been made popular by Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Pride Fight Championship. MMA
is a competition in which two combatants face off with very limited rules. Punching,
kicking, knee and elbow strikes, chokes, arm bars, leg locks and other submission holds are allowed. This
class provides the training for MMA competition or for those who want a realist training
environment.
MMA has become a very popular sport taking the world by
storm. The sport has become the wave of the future combining "striking arts" with grappling and
submission arts. Our MMA classes combines the best of the martial arts and you will learn a wide range of skills

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Through years of training the Brazilians have developed a
simple yet evolved approach to self defense, sport grappling and mixed martial arts. The strategies used
in this class include a variety of takedowns, throws, holds, chokes, and locks. You will practice these
skills and techniques with specialized training methods that allow smaller individuals to cultivate the
techniques and skills necessary to control and defeat a larger foe.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu sessions are included in our MMA classes
and are usually broken up into the following: Warm Up Session: 15-30 minutes, that consists of
cardiovascular training, strength training, and stretching. Technique Session: Technical training and specialized drills
to help each student hone their technical knowledge and physical attributes.
Pad Work: Includes both defensive and offensive
techniques. If you don't have a partner we'll put you on a heavy bag. Each class we will workout various techniques and
skills while conditioning your body.
Partner Training: Several rounds of grappling. Sparring
provides students with the real life experience needed to apply their skills against a resisting opponent.
Jeet Kune Do
Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do (JKD) was developed as a way to
realistically defend yourself quickly and efficiently. A program that is used by the United States Navy
Seals teams, the FBI, DEA, and over 50 police departments across North America. Why do these
agencies want to learn JKD so often over the years? Simple...it will turn people into fighters in a
matter of days. Most of these agencies have very little time, and because of the very high level training
methods that have been developed, JKD is a highly effective formula...the very same formula that we
will teach you.
Basically there are four ranges of fighting: kicking,
punching, trapping, and grappling. Of the hundreds of martial arts styles such as Tae Kwon DO, Karate,
Wrestling, or Boxing, most styles fall within the boundaries of one of these ranges. 99.9% of all martial
artists ( or street brawlers ) are familiar with two or three of these ranges. Most "No Holds Barred" fighters
can kick, punch and wrestle. But one of Bruce Lee's biggest revelations was that almost no one
know how to fight in the trapping range.
